Our vision for older people is embodied in the Older Americans Act and is based on the American value that dignity is inherent to all individuals in our democratic society, and the belief that older people should have the opportunity to fully participate in all aspects of society and community life, be able to maintain their health and independence, and remain in their own homes and communities for as long as possible.

NY State Office for the Aging
The mission of the New York State Office for the Aging is to help older New Yorkers to be as independent as possible for as long as possible through advocacy, development and delivery of person-centered, consumer-oriented, and cost-effective policies, programs and services which support and empower the elderly and their families, in partnership with the network of public and private organizations which serve them.

Youth for Human Rights
YHRI's focus is to teach the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to young people everywhere so that they know and insist on their rights and those of others.

Bullying Awareness Week

(11/14/2010 – 11/20/2010)
BiasHELP, Inc. staff will promote our anti-bullying message and activities in schools throughout Long Island. Schools are able to participate in the week's awareness and fundraising events. Events will include run/walk-a-thons, penny wars, poster contests, and other activities where schools will compete in raising the most money for bullying awareness. Services that will be available during Bullying Awareness Week include educational programs and presentations, resource tables, and distribution of educational materials and giveaways.

Public Service Announcement (PSA) Contest

Nassau and Suffolk County youth, 11-18 years old, are encouraged to create a 90 second public service announcement about combating bullying and providing an anti-bullying message.

Logo Contest

Award Ceremony

The Long Island Network of Community Services (LINCS) and BiasHELP Inc. will celebrate the participation of Long Island youth in our logo contest, Bullying Awareness Week activities, and PSA contest. The winning logo and PSA will be announced and viewed, and the winning youth and school that raised the most amount of money during Bullying Awareness Week will be honored. The Award Ceremony will include photo opportunities and media coverage.
